Monday, April 02, 2007
Washington, DC (April 2, 2007) - 2007 National Marina Day Chairman Brad St. Coeur today announced that the 2007 National Marina Day Resource Kits have been added to the Association of Marina Industries’ (AMI) National Marina Day website, www.MarinaAssociation.org/nmd, and the NMD Resource Kit CD will arrive in the mail to AMI and BoatU.S. Cooperating Marina members this week. The materials are available to everyone for download at no cost.
National Marina Day is produced by the Association of Marina Industries (AMI) and is an annual nationwide celebration of the role America's marinas play as gateways to boating and stewards of the environment. In 2007, National Marina Day (NMD) will be observed on August 11.
Among the materials included in the 2007 National Marina Day Resource Kits are:
· A sample proclamation marina operators and owners can ask their local city council or governing body to pass that puts their community on record as being pro-marina;
· A sample one-page news release marina operators and owners can use to announce National Marina Day and encourage community participation in their scheduled events;
· A sample speech/guest column extolling the many ways marinas benefit waterfront communities that can be delivered before local Chambers of Commerce and other community organizations and/or sent to local media outlets as an opinion-editorial piece;
· A sample letter to customers communicating the vital role marinas play in waterfront cities and towns not only as gateways to boating and stewards of the environment, but as vibrant communities of families and friends sharing a passion for the water;
· A sample letter to local, state and federal officials educating them about the critical roles marinas play in America;
· A checklist that outlines exactly how to conduct a marina tour for elected officials and policy makers;
· Sample 30 second and 60 second radio spot scripts; and
· A sample salute to marina employees that can be posted in breakrooms or reproduced as a memo in paycheck envelopes.
According to National Marina Day Chairman Brad St. Coeur of Rybovich Marina, “The NMD Resource Kit has made the event planning for marina operators much easier. Use of these resources will help make the day a success for your facility and help spread the word about the importance of marinas to communities across the country.” He continues, “It is my hope marina operators will take advantage of this annual event so that we can grow participation as well as increase our visibility to our local, state and federal legislatures.”
