Intermediate Marina Manager Course Scheduled for November ...
The International Marina Institute Continues Training Certified Marina Managers
Wednesday, September 20, 2006
(Warren, RI) -- The International Marina Institute (IMI), a subsidiary of the Association of Marina Industries (AMI), is offering its popular Intermediate Marina Manager program from November 5–9, 2006, in West Palm Beach, Florida.
IMI offers the Intermediate Marina Management (IMM) course as a stepping-stone to its Advanced Marina Management (AMM) school, scheduled for the week of December 4th. Candidates must successfully complete the IMM course in order to enroll in the AMM school, which in turn qualifies one to obtain the coveted “Certified Marina Manager,” or CMM, designation.
As preparation for advanced studies in marina management, the IMM course covers marina-specific topics including marina law, contracts, risks and liabilities, staff management, fire- and emergency-response planning, environmental management, health and safety compliance, and the hot and timely issue of fuel-system management. The program also offers case studies and instruction from such experts in the field as former IMI director Tim Timpson, University of Rhode Island’s Dennis Nixon, and Bill Yeargin from Correct Craft.
“As boater numbers grow and boating access shrinks, professional quality service can make the difference between a successful marina and a marina that goes condo,” says Jim Frye, President of AMI. “Other managerial courses offer basic, inter-industry training, but only IMI provides its students with the customized, marina-specific training necessary to succeed in the competitive marina world.”
Class fees—including lodging at DoubleTree Palm Beach Gardens hotel, breakfasts, lunches, and all course materials—are $1,695 for AMI members, and $1,895 for non-members.
The International Marina Institute (IMI) has been training and certifying marina personnel for 15 years and offers courses in Intermediate Marina Management and Advanced Marina Management, as well as providing qualified members with the coveted Certified Marina Manager designation. Nearly 200 managers, representing some of the top marinas in the world, have successfully completed IMI’s Certified Marina Manager program.
The Association of Marina Industries (AMI) is a non-profit membership organization that provides management training, education, and information about research, legislation, and environmental issues affecting the marina industry.
