Rich in history and folklore, Historic Wilmington and the island communities of Carolina Beach, Kure Beach and Wrightsville Beach lure cruisers year-round with 31 miles of sandy beaches and a historic riverfront town.
Nestled between the Cape Fear River and the Atlantic Ocean, the area offers oceanfront resorts, riverside hotels, and inland accommodations that offer a variety of overnight options.
A wide variety of year-round activities for all ages include more than 45 attractions, 49 area golf courses, 31 mile of beaches, 85+ annual events, over 62 charter boats and fishing guides, more than 54 parks and gardens, numerous guided tours, and a 230+ block National Register Historic District. There are also opportunities to experience the area's live theatre, music and exciting nightlife.
Often referred to as "Hollywood East," the Wilmington region is known for filmmaking and is home to EUE/Screen Gems Studios. Weekend studio tours are popular, as are tours of downtown movie locations. Other tours include guided tours of the historic district, narrated riverboat cruises, horse-drawn carriage tours, trolley tours, bird watching and eco-tours.
The Cape Fear Coast Convention & Visitors Bureau Visitors Information Center, located just 3 blocks from the waterfront, is open 7-days a week, year-round, except major holidays. |
